July 22: Sun enters Leo

The Sun's entrance into bold Leo comes just one day after a powerful solar eclipse in the last degree of security-conscious Cancer. This is an unusually dramatic time. As people are looking for leadership, step up and show the world what you can do. It's time to be noticed. During the Sun's transit through this proud sign, your confidence will be at an all-time high if you exhibit any of the top Leo qualities: respect for self and others, creativity and leadership.

** Astrolesson: Eclipses

With a solar and lunar eclipse in July and another lunar eclipse in August, this is the perfect time to discuss the impact of eclipses and how you can use this dynamic energy to your benefit. From the ancient times to the current world, eclipses are known to be associated with dramatic events in human and earthly affairs. If you've ever seen an eclipse, they are quite spectacular! Solar eclipses occur at new Moons and lunar eclipses take place at full Moons. Our regular new and full Moons show beginnings (new) and culminations (full) every 29 days. When those new and full Moons are eclipses, events are big and noticeable. With any eclipse, plan on something grabbing your attention -- but don't think too far ahead! What you think is going to happen, often doesn't. In fact, we use the word 'eclipse' to say that one event has been overshadowed by another. Yet, because you know astrology, and especially if you know where in your own chart this eclipse occurs, you will have an idea of the general area of your life that will be in the spotlight. During this current Leo Sun period, a lunar eclipse in Aquarius occurs on August 5. Full moons in general, (a lunar eclipse is an extra intense full Moon), are always times to tune into your emotions. The trick is to be in touch without over-reacting. Simply, bring your awareness to what needs your attention and get a plan together to make the changes that will make you feel healthier, happier and more emotionally content. In Aquarius, this eclipse stimulates your desire to be part of something bigger, whether a community or organizations with a cause close to your heart. In addition, with this eclipse occurring at the north node, you'll be prompted let go of the past and invest in your future. With any eclipse, be sure to check out the houses in your birth chart where they occur. The sign and house location as well as planets that aspect the eclipse degree give plenty of extra information.

Sunkissed in Leo
Wednesday July 22, 2009

The Sun goes into fun-loving Leo today! It's the Lion's time to shine with even greater radiance than usual. The Sun rules Leo, and many with this sign are enthusiastic Sun worshippers. Leos instinctively they know they're recharged by the Sun; any bronzing that adds to their attractiveness is a bonus. And for all of us, sunlight has healing benefits; the Sun is not the evil orb whose rays many of us have come to fear. The Sun helps our bodies generate Vitamin D, which wards off everything from cancer and osteoporosis to depression and chronic fatigue.

Sunlight and Vitamin D are natural immune system boosters, good to know as the threat of flu looms in the fall. It's critical to catch some rays, since studies show global Vitamin D deficiencies from lack of sun exposure. We're inside too much. It's an epidemic among Middle Eastern women who wear veils and burkhas, and a recent study found that 97% of African-Americans are Vitamin D deficient. This article from Harvard Medical School tells how to be a sensible sunbather. Don't follow Libra Simon Callow's example, who recently got sunburnt in St. Tropez!
hehe hehe
